My dad is not a fancy guy. He’s classy, sure, but not over the top. So when my parents were about to celebrate their 50th anniversary together, I thought for hours about what to give him. I wanted to get my mom a necklace, but my dad didn’t wear any jewelry besides his wedding ring. I also wanted to get my brother something for the occasion, after all, 50 years ago was when our family started.
I went to jewelry stores and men’s stores and couldn’t find anything that would be perfect for both of them. Finally, I was talking to some friends and one of them suggested custom cufflinks for my brother and dad. What a perfect idea! It wasn’t over the top and it was something that they would both treasure for years to come.
I decided to get ’50th’ engraved on both pairs of the custom cufflinks and have each of our names engraved on the back. When it was finally time to have the party I presented my mom with a beautiful necklace and my dad and brother with the cufflinks. They teared up and put them on immediately. When gift giving, sometimes the more custom you can go the better. Now every time they get dressed up and put their cufflinks on, they will be able to think about the 50th anniversary and what a special, rare day that is. I even had other relatives ask me where I got such a wonderful idea and how they could order their own.
